World Cup 2010

Internet World 2010
Posted by Danny Denhard | Thursday, April 29th, 2010

As the title suggests Internet World 2010 is everything related to the web in a conference/expo format.

Some of the big web hosts were there, Rackspace were pushing there new no more servers and had a huge stand as you walked in, Ukfast probably had the biggest stand and most appeal with a race car right in the middle of the expo floor, obviously a big win for the amount of men and suits who attended Earls Court 2 (yesterday)

Posted by Danny Denhard | Friday, April 16th, 2010

Happy Friday.

This week has been a very bizarre week for social media, it has been a very clear week for what has been making the headlines and worth reporting about.

1. Twitter news
Twitter could fill the full five this week. Its been a week in which Twitter rolled out promoted tweets. In short they are tweets which are paid by partners. I did predict this around a month ago. 68% of users have suggested they are unhappy with the thought of promoted tweets.
The promoted tweets were rolled out Tuesday the 13th.

5 Twitter hashtags you need to know
Posted by Danny Denhard | Monday, March 15th, 2010

Twitter hashtags are basically a quick way of categorising your tweets. Many hashtags end up trending topics and many events now use specific hashtags for their events, like EyeforPharma #efp was one of our most recent conferences we attended.

Here are your quick fire Top 5 Twitter hashtags you may want to know -

1. #ff aka #followfriday – Follow Friday it’s the world wide hashtag that you tell your followers and the world who are the best people to follow.

2. #musicmonday – This is the first music hashtag which you should remember, basically you say to the world of twitter who you are listening to on Monday’s.

3. #nowplaying – Says what it does on the label, you tell your followers and Twitterverse what you are now playing, usually music but many people have recently added it to tv and films they are now watching or playing.

4. #AmITheOnlyOne – Nice and simple this one, are you the only one who thinks or does a certain thing.

5. #ItsNotCool – Another statement based hashtag, example #itsnotcool to blog about twitter has hashtags.

If you have questions about hashtag’s do not hesitate in contacting us or tweeting us @nitrodigital

5 tips for social network profiles
Posted by Danny Denhard | Thursday, March 4th, 2010

To keep my little tradition going, here are five top tips for your social network profiles.

1. Upload a picture of you – default pictures are rubbish and everyone likes to see your face (however photographic you may or may not be) It’s a personal experience, help people associate your voice and opinions with your face.

2. Do not lie – Best example is LinkedIn, LinkedIn is like your online CV. So if you lie on there you will be found out. Don’t get to an interview and be caught out, many potential employers do check the potential employee’s. (I know I did)

3. Its not all about you – Social networks aren’t always about you, it might be your escape or your own little world, however social networks are all about conversation, so interact….please.

4. No one likes a moaner – Everyone loves a moan, especially us in the UK, but constant moaning online is not cool. 2010 is unofficially (of course) the year to be positive.

5. Status updates are seen by all – Unless you protect your updates or have a hidden identity, do not update your status’ with I hate my job, my boss is…., she’ll never find out. You get the idea, you update your status your likely to cause yourself a few issues.
