Book Review: ‘Poke The Box’ – Starting something new

It all started the day when our Managing Director, Jules, made a shout out in the office handing out a small number of Seth Godin’s new book – Poke the Box. We all went rushing up, but only a limited number of copies were handed out – and there’s a reason for that. This now brings me to explain what Poke the Box really is: it’s the first thing to kick off from The Domino Project. I believe The Domino Project is a sign of things to come in publishing: short and snappy, digital-first, direct-to-reader books at a fraction of the typical purchase price of traditionally-produced books. The aim is to take the message from this book and push it person to person. Even this idea uses methodology taken from Poke the Box, as it’s starting to spread the message in an innovative fashion. News Flash from the Inaugural PM Group Diabetes QIC (Quality In Care) Awards at Sanofi UK – 17th November 2011

Now, I have been to a few awards ceremonies in my time and obviously the ones you win at go down in legend and the ones you don’t get parked in the darker bits of the grey matter. So, attending the inaugural Diabetes Qic awards was a refreshing change and really rewarding experience given there were no possible gongs to be won.  (more…)

What a Day!

It is an understatement to say that we had an exceptionally amazing day yesterday. Syrum, our latest pharma gaming project was amazingly well received at DigiPharm. The game created a real buzz with attendees describing it as “a new approach to pharma marketing”. It has even been jokingly claimed that so many people tried to get on it that it caused the wifi to crash! (more…)

Gamification in Pharma

With an estimated 250 million people playing social games every month, social gaming has seen explosive growth in recent years. You only have to look at the rapid rise of social network game developer Zynga (who has the annual revenue of $850 million) and the likes of FarmVille and Mafia Wars to see the huge business potential gamification holds for companies. Integrating game mechanics into brands, websites and applications is ultimately becoming increasingly popular in consumer marketing as it boosts engagement, which is believed to lead to brand loyalty.
